Whether those plans include a film adaptation remains to be seen, but there will be no shortage of series fans who’ll be quite excited about the prospect. The remake is, of course, the first step that EA is taking in its efforts to revive the franchise after a long hiatus, though there’s no telling yet what the company has planned for it beyond that. “There’s a new version of the Dead Space video game coming out in January, and I’m there,” he said. Regardless of Carpenter’s involvement in a Dead Space movie, however, the director confirms that he’s looking forward to the upcoming remake and will definitely be playing it. That much seems guaranteed at this point, and it looks like Dead Space is going to be another one of those. The chances of commercial and critical success for each of these also seem higher than they ever have in the past- so does that mean more companies will look to expand their audiences with similar projects? Film and TV adaptation of video games are gathering significant momentum, and more than a few major gaming properties have had adaptations greenlit of late, from Super Mario Bros., Gears of War, and Death Stranding to The Last of Us, God of War, and many more.
